hello!

just finished watching "the emperor's club"...it's prolly a few many years old movie. but it's still as inspiring as anything! good show to watch, if you have nothing else better to do. heh

quick! put in on your 'to-do-in-hols' list.

i swear, botanics apartment should kill the caretaker. he should be at botanics all the time ain't it! but he wasn't there today when the electrician wanted to have a look at the main switchboard thing. now poor edwin... has minimal hot water to work with. but oh well. he told me that he doesnt require hot water today. err i wonder what that means?

1. he's going to shower at the gym
2. he already showered today
3. he doesn't shower.

i hope it is options 1 or 2.... o.o

i've been reading some travel guides! ahhh. i want to travel!
i envy tiffy! who just got back from her round the world trip.

hai.. back to the books for more stunting photos of the world. to feed my eyes.

dolce dolce dolce!

means dessert in italian

spent a good part of my life reading 'jamie's italy'. it was rather inspiring! i feel like going out to buy the 'freshest produce' to make my own home cooked food. but what's the point of cooking if there is no one around to share in the flavours?

so i got to wait till victor chia comes back.

i went to central market today! yoohoo. i fought off the temptation to buy bubble tea :) so proud of myself. bought fruits, vegies and sausages! i wanted to buy cheese but nah... another time.

it's only another week by myself! awwwe. i miss myself.

love makes the world go round

love.. the addition of love to your life? or the lack of it?

is love really important?

some people give up love to pursue other things in life. love was sitting nicely in their arms and they decided they didn't want to have anything to do with it.

'greener pastures', their voices echoed.

but why would there be greener pastures if the love they had was all that they would need? greener pastures... are they just a fragment of our imaginations that occur when things dont go right? or have they always been in us waiting to be discovered by our mindless souls?

other people seek love like a alcoholic dreams of liquor. it's the drug of choice for any soul that is weary; any one that is suffering, or simply wanting something more in their regimented life. they crave it, think of it and jump at the chance to experience it.

why would the same thing cause such oppositional feelings in different people?

would we be the same without love?

love, oh so complicated.

friday night live!

big brother can be considered the worst reality show ever but the irony is 5million australians tune in to watch it every night. WTH!?

the plumber finally came to fix vic's hot water heater. turns out one of the heating elements melted (don't ask how or why). no wonder lah. now we don't have to chiong to the bathroom (the later person usually have to bathe in ice water)

spent the past few days watching dvds, going to the gym etc.. haha quite fun.

i am thinking of reorgansing my notes.

it might be abit too.. drastic. how huh!

clean clean clean.

shit lah i just cleaned my room and now i see dust.

i hate dust.

life is slow

life is slow and i am loving it!

no rush to do your homework
no need to eat hurriedly
no urgency to stop my msn chatting
no reason to wake up early

every opportunity to rest, relax, gym and read.

sat down with jess (my housemate) with a pot of brewed earl grey & blue flower tea. had quite a long chat about .. random stuff. heh. kinda nice.

my room improvement project is kinda working. almost done packing. time to move things around to make it neater. and note to self: move matteress to garage so can put boxes under the bed!

yoohoo.

and my bruise is finally almost gone-ish.

vita chia is back home! byebye baby. kinda nice to be alone.

and i think i might regret saying this in a few days time

a post in less than 24 hours

daphne must be bored. actually not... considering there's the last paper next tuesday. hee.
shall do that AFTER this entry yoh?

yes yes. portugal's my favourite!

it used to be just a case of oogling at cute eye candies like luis figo and nuno gomes. it was only later that i realised they played with pretty interesting tactics..

and with the intro of scolari (is that how you spell his name) as the coach, they are playing better and better! being one of the few teams that won all the matches at the group stages.

PLUS, the team never fails to generate more eye candies for me.

CHRISTIANO ronaldo! abit young though and way too hot headed. not suave enough like figo. but that takes time i suppose.

alright. enough about portugal...

OLE! ole! OLE!

You're going home tonight!!"

i am feeling ze streessss.

world cup matches showing live 3 times a day is not helping!
i wish i could just rot the day away and wake up at night to marathon watch the matches.

heh. but so far all my fave teams are winning. i am very happy.

maybe the soccer fever has gotten to me coz i am in australia. people here went beserk after australia's win against japan. the newspapers just keep talking about them. kinda puts you in the victorious mood lol

i need motivation

as i revise my work.. i realised how much i forget. all that re-learning is taking its toil on me. its like, i know i know it but yet i can't remember it at all.

revision is coming along really s.l.o.w.l.y

sometimes i wonder if this is the path for me.
can i even make it?
i feel like im losing it.
losing the ability to remember and apply my knowledge..
i am scaring myself to bits.

uncertainty is consuming me.
i need to get some control over my life.

NB: daphne is expressing her paranoia about the upcoming exams.
you could tell, couldn't you?

I go crazy

Hello boy it's been a while
Guess you'll be glad to know
That I've learned how to laugh and smile
Getting over you was slow
They say old lovers can be good friends
But I never thought I'd really see you
I'd really see you again

I go crazy
When I look in your eyes I still go crazy
No my heart just can't hide that old feelin' inside
Way deep down inside
Oh, baby, you know when I look in your eyes I go crazy

You say she satisfies your mind
Tells you all of her dreams
I know how much that means to you
I realize that I was blind
Just when I thought I was over you
I see your face and it just ain't true

I go crazy
When I look in your eyes I still go crazy
That old flame comes alive, it starts burning inside
Way deep down inside
Oh, baby, you know when I look in your eyes I go crazy
I go crazy

stress~

i hate exams. it screws up your sleep pattern, your eating pattern, your time distribution.. everything.

and the thing that makes it all so much worse is that i still have classes to attend. COME ON, would talking about effective communication help you pass your exams?

it's crazy shit. sooo much to study..

and btw, this is my 5th exam in adelaide.
still not used to it.

hellpppppppp~

the weirdest things u read in pamphlets

Having to do an assignment on early childhood development has just exposed me to the array of pamphlets they have. Rows after rows of pamphlets on topics imaginable and unimaginable. Some of them are really informative, others are just plain weird shit.

My favourite example:

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN THE BABY IS HUNGRY?

Feeding cues #5
Frantic searching for the breast

day 7 part 2

day 7. port arthur

top row (L-R)
mum outside our cottage place! the place is damn nice and damn big. AHHH! and they have cheap beer in the bar fridge as well. lagers made in tassie taste heaps better den coopers from SA man.

erm. thats me. chained up! with the heavy iron chains that the prisoners in port arthur had to wear ALL DAY in the past.

view of the water surrounding port arthur.

middle row (L-R)
row of english oak trees

church in port arthur

view of port arthur

last row (L-R)
flowers in the garden in port arthur.

port arthur was one of the biggest convict settlements in australia. what could be worse den banishing these prisoners to australia.. and especially to.. TASMANIA? port arthur was chosen coz it was SO secluded, surrounded by water on one side and crazy forest on the other.

right now in 21st century, port arthur looks like a peaceful and picturesque place. obviously things werent so rosy in the past. they conduct ghost tours at night for tourists to be 'able' to see some.. friends. lol

day 6 wineglass bay

day 6 was spent at Freycinet National Park. there's a million bays and beaches in this park. we climbed up to the wineglass bay lookout (took about 1+ hour: steep ascent!) although the weather was gloomy, the view of the bay was still magnificent.

u might wonder why its called the wineglass bay. well, eons ago in the 1890s ish time period this area was famous for whale hunting. whales in those days were really sought after. they would use the whale bones to make corsets and structures of big frumpy victorian dresses. they would use the blubber for fuel and stuff. so yeah, the Englishmen loved whales. As such, this bay was almost always covered with whale blood (which is red! dohhh) so when some explorer decided to climb the mountains in the area, he looked down at the bay, realised that 1. it was shaped like a wineglass 2. it was bloody red resembling wine... and taa-daa! wineglass bay. have to respect the English for being so erm. creative. lol

top row: corner left: the wineglass bay itself!
top row middle: my stupid sister at the lookout. she was too tired to really smile. lol
top row right: my sister and the wallabe! at the wineglass bay ITSELF. yeah we were super onz and walked all the way DOWN to the bay itself.

middle row: views from the bay
the water is bloody clear and u can see stuff like starfish and all. wow i didnt know they really existed! and the wallabee at the beach was SUPER friendly. tink it wanted food from us. poor chap.

last row middle: in the afternoon after lunch, we went to a berry farm! the place was berry-fied. they sold bottles of berry jam, berry juice, berry ice cream, berry yoghurt.. u name it.
purple flower: from berry farm. lol

day 5 part 2

At bicheno, we went for the penguin tour at night. When dusk falls, penguins will cease their fish hunting out at sea and return to shore for rest and mating. the penguins that u see in australia are called fairy penguins, prolly coz they are so tiny. they are much much smaller den the ones in south pole. the penguin in the middle of the top row looks weird coz he is undergoing the moulting process. so he sheds feathers and gained fat mass.

the rest of the collage are pics of flowers that we see in bicheno. all pretty pretty.

day 5 part 1

top row (L-R)
cataract gorge. a man made nice scenic park in launcentson. it's one of the bigger city areas in tasmania. there's a nice suspension bridge in cataract gorge that u can jump on and freak all the others that are standing on the bridge. hoho

yet another waterfall. just as spectacular. except we spotted leeches in the forest. which made us all scared and wary of our blood sucking friends.

our spot for lunch! just some really random river. can u imagine? random river also so nice one!

middle row (L-R)
my mum and Gostavov - this brazilian guy who is shit funny and damn interesting. also at lunch spot

mum and i at bicheno, the red rocks beach. bicheno's a small sea side town that really neat.

view of the beach at bicheno

last row (L-R)
dead penguin along the beach :(

pretty flowers!!! :) along the beach too

bicheno blowhole! it's a hole created in the rocks from the water erosion by the seawaves. as a result when the tide comes in, the water will spurt from the hole! forming a water fountain thingy that comes and goes with the tide.

tassie day 4

lets talk abt collage above first.

day 4 was spent most at Cradle Mountain National Park. it's this crazy place with loads of nice mountains that were covered with bits of snow when we were there. apparently it was snowing like mad 2 weeks ago and the snow we saw was left over from that time.

We couldnt climb up cradle mountain itself but we climbed to the summit of its neighboring peak (which was lower) the view along the way was just breathtaking. we see lakes forming, river water flowing from the mountain, nice mountains and weird plants.

mum sis and i looked like we were gonna be blown away in pic in top row. almost true. wind was really strong and it was just so cool. ho ho ho

pic BELOW:
the one on the right is cradle mountain itself. the middle pic was taken on the last leg of the hike. the first pic was.. i cant remember. some grass along the way i suppose. lol

Sunday, May 14, 2006

tassie day 3. sand dunes and strahan

Except for pic of wooden timber boat and fudge place, the rest were of Hefty Sand Dunes. This place is situated along the West COast of Tasmania and the Sand Dunes is a product of wind erosion over millions of years, where the wind carried the sand from the beach up to another spot and all that sand over the years developed into the sand dune. The beach u see in the middle row is the Ocean Beach.

The dune and beach is terribly secluded and thus many things are very erm. natural i would say. no plastic bottles left behind. We left behind only our footprints (mum's one in top row) and we even spotted the wallabee's footprint (Left middle row).

Sand dunes are damn difficult to walk on. was a damn good workout under the sun. but the view was .. very nice and unspoilt by mankind.

and to the wooden boat, taken in the little town called Strahan along the west coast of tasmania too. The people there, since eons ago, would collect stray timber logs and crave and make boats out of them, so that they could go out to fish and all. obviously now they dun do such things anymore, so instead our frens in the village decided to make chopping boards and matching wooden vases. prob of the tourism influx bah. we bought a cheeseboard and pen holder from the town.

oh and besides wooden gifts, the fudge at strahan is DAMN GOOD. and damn fattening too lah. of course. hohohoho

tassie day 2 cont'd

Top row (L-R)
How mountain looked like after we fiddled around with the digicam functions. we get purple trees! lol

Plant on top of mountain.

Mum and sister at the 3rd waterfall we caught on day2. forgot name. but nice nonetheless. lol

Middle row (L-R)
At tullah, this lake was taken in the morning. lake situated right next to our hotel. yoohooo

Another plant on top of the purpled mountain

Water meandering from the waterfall seen in pic in top row, right most.

Last row:
same lake in tullah. except this one was taken in the afternoon. lol

yet ANOTHER plant on top of the same mountain.

mum outside the hotel in tullah

aussie trip - Mount field national park, etc

Top Row:
Mum and sis standing between 2 halves of a fallen big tree. We were in Mount Field national park. alot of interesting plants and stuff around.

Horseshoe Falls - notice the shape! No wonder they named it so. Mount Field National Park too.

Russell Falls. - a bigger more magnificent falls. Also in the same park

Middle Row (L-R)
The interior of a fallen big log. SO BIGGGG!

Along the river Derwent. Water was so still the reflections were so clear! o.o

Lake St Clair. Deepest Lake in Australia.

LAst Row:
Some fast water flowing near to the Lake st clair.

Button Grass. named so coz the tip of the grass looks like a button. there were millions of them in tasmania MAN...

View from the top of a mountain!! wow wow.

aussie trip - tasmania, hobart day 1

top row (L-R):
theatre royal hotel! a cosy little hotel that only has 12 rooms, situated next to the Theatre Royal. Minutes away from the dock.. The rooms were pretty cool. Liked it ! :)

Haha. a car we walked past in Hobart CBD. it was plain hilarious, the prankster

Mum and sister at Constitution Dock. Where u can see alot of nice private yachts as well as fishing boats. Many Fish and chips stalls there too.

middle row (L-R):
Taken at a park next to the Salamanca market. Not too sure what is it called. but it was a serene corner right in the middle of the bustling market area.

Stalls at Salamanca market - they sold everything from fresh produce, to hotdogs, to icecream to wooden ornaments and hand knitted woollen gear.

Erm some tallish building in the hobart CBD

Bottom row (L-R):
Also at the salamanca market. we found this tree especially interesting because of the red leaves. So authumy

My salmon! dinner on the first night at a seafood restaurant. it was extremely fresh and tender. hohoho.

Haha. salamanca market. (again)

muscatooooo

here i am
drinking a glass of muscato d'asti

it's sparkling! happy! sweet! refreshing :)

i'm a sweet wine convert

cheers! *glasses clink*

i think if i've never studied in australia (south australia more specifically) i might not have ever discovered the true beauty of wines. and how different one wine is to another one is just amazing.

and really, sometimes in life, there's so many other things out there worth discovering. don't brood over yourself and your sad little toad in a well life.

(daph runs off to finish her glass of wine)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

victor's housemate puked quite abit last night. it was quite puzzling because he's such a goody 2 shoes who doesn't overdrink and do silly things like the rest of us.

however, we found the renmants of a wineglass next to the sink!

he told us he was nauseated.

so, we are speculating he could be a closet drunk. just sitting in his room gulping down heaps of alcohol.

or maybe we are wrong... he might be having some problems?..

hmmmmmmmmm.

i want to solve the mystery!!

random thoughts

is my fuse getting shorter or are people just getting more annoying?

when is it right to scream at people?

and not thinking/speaking right coz of a bad day.. is that a good enough excuse for anyone?

do you have to justify every single move you make?

is a free will ever possible?

these thoughts been jumping up and down in my head.
and they hurt.

getting snapped at isn't fun at all. o.o

maybe im a petty girl at heart.

maybe i should just wash my hands off all matters than doesn't bother me.
that way i may be able to keep my sanity for a while longer.

where has the days of good natured-ness gone to?
have they vanished from the air or are they still lying dormant in people's hearts?

or is such just a feature of growing up?

maybe i am the one who has changed.

so much so that i don't even recognise myself anymore.

cough

still sick. decided to take the day off. afterall, theres only 2 tutorials to attend today, neither of which is entirely exciting or enriching to my mind.

i just woke up 1/2 hour ago. feeling good :)

and i havent found the time or energy to put up photos from my tassie trip. might do that over the weekend or something.

my head is feeling like its going to enter headache mode

i better return to bed. more rest!! :0 and you thought i had enough.

weekend

friday

potluck with the east enders. turnup was pretty good. victor's dining table was overly crowded and 8 of us had to eat with our arms close to our bodies. but the good food and the laughter that was going around definitely made up for the squishyness we experienced.

and to live up to my food orientated blog image upheld by ian..

we had sushi - salmon and unaji (vic n me), dhal (aishah), sweet and sour chicks (jq), mary's little lamb (hans), salad (edwin), chick wings and drumlets (mus), dessert and drinks (garry)

ended the night by watching phathom of the opera dvd at hans' place. i am so jealous of his plasma tv and surround sound system man! and i am so in love with the songs from phathom!... think of meeee..think of meeee fondlyyyyyy... lol

saturday

and just as i tried recovering from a good friday night, i had to prepare myself for debby's 21st bdae party! it was held at her place, which is like a mini hostel place. 10+ people living in the big house, each having their own rooms but use the same dining and play area. quite a cool place.

the party started off extremely dignified. everyone was dressed up according to her white and gold theme. there were plenty of finger food - tiny pies, pastries, hams, sandwiches, chips, wedges.. alot of mingling around with familar faces.

but after debby and maybelline (the other bdae girl) opened their presents and delivered their thank you speeches, the after party began.

the alcohol was as free flowing as the river and there was no stopping people from snatching the drinks from the 'bartender' and pouring it into ur own cup. the music was loud.. and before long, everyone was happy and high.

loads of hilarious things happened. MAN.....some were so funny, others were rather embarressing. but nothing detrimental done yeah.

venita was right. if there was a night we all HAD to get drunk and shit pissed, it sure better be last night. we had the perfect company, where people would look out for you and made sure you were happy but not in danger.. we could stay over if we got drunk. no baddies around to spike our drinks or whatsoever.

having sad that, i can only do this sort of party once in a LONG while.

too tiring for my frail soul.

and now.. back to work.

PS: i am currently nursing a sore throat. i think i got it from all the shouting and cheering last night. dear me..

Monday, May 01, 2006

busy week

ever since i got back it has been just a whirl of events happening events right after events..my PBL is suffering big time. tonight being the only night i can consider myself doing sufficient amount of work.

having ur folks visit you is very heartwarming.. but its damn tiring in my case. i had to move my poor study desk downstairs to study. they colonise my bed and my bathroom AND my wardrobe. suddenly my personal space has been massively infringed upon.

i feel a tinge of damnness.

not that i know what damnness means. its like, "DAMN.. what on earth happened here?" oh well. but all the bringing them around is so fun. my mum and sister are amused at the weirdest thing. they LOVE love love the coles/woolies green environmentally friendly papercloth shopping bag, so much so that they bought one to bring home to sg. i was utterly bewildered.

O.O

but i know i will miss them dearly when they are gone. sigh.

for now, studying downstairs isn't that bad huh.

hohoho...

missing summer..

never really got around posthing up this collage. we polished off a huge wedge of a watermelon! yummy. very sweet and crunchy and juicy. perfect solution to a hot summer day. and summer days are so hot and stuffy you cannot bring yourself to do work. hence, you cam-whore and take many stupid pictures.

the cold cold weather made me feel gloomy. that's why i need some happy pics like this to make me feel happy! :)

I MISS SUMMER

BLAHHH..

me! with my squrtle (the turtle) and ryan (the lion) in the background Posted by Picasa

victor. my baby

only less than 24 hours before i embark on my great tassie tour. you would probably imagine me packing frantically, trying to remember to bring all needed things, but NO.

Daphne is very busy in the kitchen cooking up a storm for victor.

I churned out stir fried spaghetti, chicken pasta sauce, gyu-don..
now the fridge is stacked with bowls of food - so that when i am away, victor can still have some decent food which, hopefully would remind him of me.

in this way, i guess i can't bear to leave him behind. the thought of him having to leave on french fries, burgers and oil-laden yiros and kebabs.. is just too painful. kinda makes me feel like his mummy, ensuring his nutrition despite my physical absence in his life.

besides that, he will probably go crazy playing dota, and doing all that guy bonding..which isn't a bad thing i suppose.

*sigh*

at the end of it all, i know that tasmania will prove to be spectacular and wonderful..

so hang in there vicky! i will be back soon!

uncles and golf

vic's dad arrived in adelaide on sunday! with his 2 golf kakis. so we had to entertain 3 uncles the past few days. initially, i thought it would be a boring affair - afterall what would 3 businessmen have in common with me?

apparently, quite alot~ hahaha...

they were really cute, always fighting to pay the bills at restaurants. when we were at angas park shop (sells dried fruits and chocs) the lady at the cashier was saying " no fighting boys!".. it was hilarious.

and these uncles are pro-golf people. always giving tips on how to play better golf, and even how to drive a buggy properly. daphne the crazy girl nearly ran the buggy into a tree.

but i love the buggy!! :)

it's cool, and the top speed you can ever go is not high enough to scare me.. yet it's exhilarating to drive 2 men across the fairway at top speed, making them cringe as they hold on tight to their seats. haha they call me the formula 1 buggy driver.

too bad these uncles are going off tmr! so sad. they were so much fun to be with.

and im going off to tasmania on saturday!! :)

on another note, i went to bunning's today. bunning's is a huge huge huge DIY warehouse. i was fasinated with every single thing in there. made me want to commence a big DIY project for my room. heh heh. in the end, i bought a large white plastic hook for my mirror, a whole roll of stuff to tie my cables up neatly and a babylight. the babylight was really cool. it switches on when the room is dark and it turns itself off when the room is bright again. tiffany had one in her room in sg when i visited her. im so happy i have my own one now!! lol

alright enough crap.

another time guys!!

the rain has started

damn it. the rain is here!!!! and it just WOULDNT go away. i hate walking in the rain. especially when you need to get from point A (house) to point B (med school). it's disgusting to go for class drenched and soaked. ahhhh. perfect reason for not leaving the house i tell ya.

i can almost smell the holidays!! :) 2 essay due, one tmr and another one on friday.. both done!! i'm SHO SHO SHO proud of myself. first time ever, finishing assignments on time. congratulations daphie. vic! jiayou! you can finish it too *hugs*

tmr evening.. we are going to celebrate adrian's 21st! very exciting, going for indian food. and a large party too - 15 friends in all. i just hope we wun scare the rest of the customers away. heh.

friday - off day from uni!!!! MUAHAHA. plan to go shopping. walk around and you know, RELAX.. i'm supposed to cook for victor and i. but i dunno how or what..

saturday - yvonne's housewarming. her house is damn warmed loh. they moved in 1 year AGO! finally, i thought she would never have one. lol.

that's enough fun stuff for now.

time to zzzzz.

my blog is turning FOOD orientated

says my dear green hair monster friend, IAN LOW

I do not deny it. but Ian you see, cooking is a hobby that is edible. It is one that you can share with people, cheaply too. You can have warm conversations + jokes accompanying it as desserts and appetizers. You can feel satisfied and happy after you eat your hobby up.

PLUS, the way to a man's heart to thru his stomach! Hah hah...

I wanted to post up some pics, but I'm way to lazy to reach for my camera cable, which is located at the top of my wardrobe. help me, all you tall freaks. ladder loving freaks can help me out too.

currently doing a case on BURNS. it's not your regular "ouch, it hurts and my wound is red and inflamed" sort of burns. dealing with the sort that leaves your nerve endings destroyed and your wound turning a white weirdy colour. eeeicks. very distressing to look at the damn pictures!! O.O helppp. i need some selective visual thingy that helps me to look beyond the gross pictures.

niwae guys, i am deprived of snail mail. send me something.

quick! now!!

impulsiveness and puff pastry

the result: double pies in one night.

decided to be nice to victor. he's been a good boy working out at the gym. so it's time for a good homecooked meal to reward him. he loves chicken pie, especially the ones from canteen at lido shaw house, level 1. except in australia, the pies are ALL made with beef. minced beef, beef with mushroom, beef with kidney, beef with beef. all beefy and gross. we prefer chick pies. so when you cant find them, make them!

hah hah, thankfully i learnt a little trick to help me with the pie making process. and the chick pie turned out good! vic was impressed. heh heh. and there's even pie for lunch tmr ;)

we saw that the fridge had some apples, and the left over puff pastry sitting in the freezer demanded some attention. so we gave it what it wanted. and whipped out apple turnover!

so right now, im tired. no more pies for a longgg time. although vic has started his "when are you going to make this again?"

no victor, you got to be a good boy. then i will think about it :)

sunday

claypot rice on sunday turned out really really well. except the rice was abit hard but it was so flavoursome, the chicks were tender and the dark sauce was spewing out of every single bite we took. victor goobled up the food, and i took it as a sign that it was good stuff. ho ho ho.

we went to chocolate bean on saturday!! this place serves some good choco choco. from the hot chocs, to the warm choc cake.. even the chai latte is nice. but the size of the serving called for some extra troops to come forth and help devour the massively rich cake. and we guys talked and laughed and have a wonderful time. yay. would definitely do it again. *keeps a mental note*

sunday. nothing much. read abit, doodled abit, went for mass, thankfully it was youth mass so the songs they played were so.. uplifting to my weary soul. wheee! and i sounded like an overly enthu fella singing my lungs out just because i know the lyrics. ah hem, i was once in the church choir ok. haha. but yeah, i like church. it's the making time and getting there that's the problem. but since the holy week is coming up soon.. i shall aim to be more erm.. religous.

hot hot hot

IT'S SO HOT. SO STUFFY. SO MANY FLIES.

WHERE'S AUTHUM?

HURRY COOL AIR, COME TO ME.

the weekend!

yay! its friday! FINALLY. i thought this day would never come. i wanted to walk with victor to the soccer fields and hang around there for abit with the other girlfriends-who-got-dragged-out people. but i couldn't even make it to the 1st traffic light because it is scorching hot outside! the beams of rays feel like laser burning my skin. so i did a u-turn..and i'm now sucking ice cubes and very comfy in front of the computer. ho ho ho.

it's only another 2 weeks to the mid term break!! i am soo excited. in the first week, vic's dad is coming for a golf holiday. and i leave 2 days later to meet my mum and sis in tasmania for our grand aussie scenic tour. i forsee alot of fresh seafood ingestion too, since tassie is well known for its extremely fresh salmon, oysters, sallops, fish, fish, fish, shellfish, .... yeah. my seafood vocabulary is quite limited. but u get my point. and seafood is cheaper too! sounds like a dream come true. fresh n cheap. heh heh

hmm my PBL group is functioning at 75% max at each tutorial. this one guy had a surfing accident, and is currently nursing a kidney infection. so he's been MIA-ing for quite a long while. the other girl hasn't been appearing and we think she might be taking the year off or something. o.o strange. and there's another 2 kids in my group who are transfer students (one from monash, and the other from uni of leichester in UK). so.. we don't really get too much done, despite the fact that i think i have a good tutor this semester. you never get the best of everything i suppose. -.-

alrighty. shall mop around until dinner time. claypot rice for dinner!!! :) YAY

house warming

technically, it should be called a room warming, since i'm the new one to move in. haha. next time remember to tell me to think twice before i invite 15 people and cook everything from scratch. thank goodness i had the dedicated help of...victor! and my housemate jessica. they are fantastic people. i would have never done it alone..

so let's see, there was stir fried spaghetti, fried rice, soya sauce chicken drumsticks, herb chick wings, battered prawns, lamb kababs, mussels in tomato sauce, miso soup... ending it all with longan almond jelly and watermelon!! ;) everyone liked the food. phew phew. and we had a good time laughing at how slow singaporean swimmers swam at the commonwealth games. we were 7th in some men's rally. the aussies and NZ and canadians were swimming in one direction and our fellows were still catching up from the opposite direction. malu sia...

PS: victor and i looked like shit in the pic because we were busy cooking we didnt bother changing into nice clothes. my messy hair...ahhhh

btw.. time for some names.
top row: aishah, victor, musdyana, david, ian, hans
middle bit: alfred, me, kristin
bottom row: garry, venita, jessica, joanne, klara, yvonne, angie.

each of them are special to me in different ways. aishah and mus make me laugh all the time. and i love the way they hate each other, despite living in the same apartment. the 2 of them are practical, crazy, fun loving, and alot of fun at parties. just see how they bought hats and wore them to my party man... (aishah took hers off in this pic though. what a pity)

david's household consists of yvonne my fake sister, angie her real sister, david whos in my pbl, and kristin, whos actually in 2nd year.. but shes nice. and their household comes as a package deal. haha. invite 1 = invite 4. lol yvonne is very big with arm gestures, and she is so slim with the longest pair of legs that goes from adelaide to singapore. ditto for angie. all 3 girls (kristin, angie and yvonne) are ditsy, super hilarious and can whine in different ways. ha ha ha

ian and venita. a couple who really should get a room!! though they always accuse vic and me. ian's chinese is atrocious and out of tune. and venita can speak better chinese den him. what a letdown to the billions of cheena people out there. but together they are cool, hip and they bake the best sticky date pudding too!

hans is a friend who i love to hate and hate to love.. haha he's full of shit, loves eating and is constantly on a diet.. and has been so for the past 2 years i've known him. he bakes very yummy bread and cakes and stuff.. and he loves his sauces and condiments and oil very much. very erm.. flavourful cooking. but we all love him even though he laughs louder den me ( i let him win one)

alfred, joanne and klara. a unexpected trio of friendship. alfred is a true goumet person. he reads fine wine and dine mags, hides exquisite chocolate and cheeses in his study drawer. he is addicted to chocolate and there is never such a thing as too much choc in his vocab. joanne is my fave galfriend! She is funky, extremely sporty (plays soccer with guys) and always game for something exciting. klara is the epitome of jap fashion. she is such a dolly - makeup, nice curls and pretty frocks. she make me look like poo when i stand to her man.

last but not least, jessica! someone who i'm trying to know more at the moment. she is really sweet and helpful. and terribly diligent and has the neatest room, neatest handwriting and clean the kitchen to cleaniness. i feel like a messy freak next to her man. HELP

so there u have, a run down of my friends. i can tell u all alot more but i guess that's enough for tonight. bye guys!! *hugs*

daphne: Nope. *shakes head*
tutor: what about problems last yr?
daphne: *still shaking head*
tutor: so no problems at all?

drained

having an hour long break between my classes at the hospital. phew. spent 1.5 hours with ONE patient and i'm pretty much dead. all the intensity. and its all so full on man. lucky alvin is a good person to partner. and as usual, the 3rd girl who's supposed to be with us didnt turn up.. i like it this way though. haha.

i'm not too sure if i can turn up for tutorial later in casual clothes. but my tutor's crazy xiao on and very strict.. shall not risk it.

just moved into my new place! so far so nice. the room itself isnt big.. but i think it's still bigger than the rooms in nus halls. the rest of the house is pretty cool. so im liking it alot. ;) u can ask me for my address if u want.. i don't want to post it up.

alrighty. i shall catch a short nap before i head back to the hospital again.

oh! and tmr.. victor and i will be together 7 mths! ok ok i know it's not long. but unoe... lol. just another reason to eat out and dress up i suppose.

MY BIRTHDAY!

happy birthday to me !

i woke up to a chirpy voice.."happy birthday baby!!" and hold and behold! victor made me breakfast. although it was just fried egg, tuna and toast and milo - it made my heart warm and fuzzy. ;)

went to uni early for my 8am class. rotted and died in class while my bimbo classmate insisted that blood do not flow backwards in the portal vein.. but rather it just "builds up".

spent 1.5 hours in the anatomy lab, looking at solid rock hard livers and preserved bits swimming in plastic containers. haha. but it was all good. i learnt something new at least.

i am now too tired to remember what happened the rest of the afternoon. it was a blurry memory of dozing off in lectures and copying notes frantically when i woke up from my nap.

oh! den i went for dinner. at a nice nice japanese yakitori place. YUM. and we took a slow stroll back to vic's place..

the highlight was after 9.30pm. there was CAKE! (mascarpone coffee) and DRINKKS! (dessert wine) and when 8 crazy people unite, you have noise pollution, fun and laughter. we talked and gossiped and poked fun at each other.

but we all got to go.. coz there's a bloody 8am lecture later.

thanks to all well wishes, cards and presents and time spent with me! and special mention to victor! who managed to surprise me. *hugs*
